Franz Volker Greifenhagen studied the Hebrew Bible and Islam at Duke University, graduating with a PhD in 1998. Since 1994, he has taught religious studies at Luther College at the University of Regina where he presently serves as dean.
He has co-authored a textbook on the Hebrew Bible, An Introduction to the Hebrew Bible: A Thematic Approach, and published and presented academic papers on the stories of Joseph and Noah, and other biblical figures, found both in the Bible and Qur’an, and on modern Muslim discourses about authenticity and covering.
He teaches in Luther College’s Interdisciplinary Studies Program; he received an Inspiring Teacher Award in 2002; and has supervised both honours and graduate students. He regularly shares his scholarship with church and community groups.
His past research focused on the construction of ethnicity in the Hebrew Bible, on biblical-qur’anic intertextuality, and on contemporary Islam in North America.
As collaborator, Franz Volker Greifenhagen will, together with A. Brenda Anderson, also oversee research in the area of intra-religious and interreligious diversity.

Rachad Antonius has studied Sociology (Ph.D., UQAM) and Mathematics (M.Sc., University of Manitoba). He is currently Professor in the Department of Sociology and Co-director of the Chair for Research in Immigration, Ethnicity and Citizenship (CRIEC), both at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
His past research has focused broadly, on the one hand, on quantitative methods in social research and, on the other hand, on contemporary Arab societies, on State/Civil Society relations and on rural Egyptian communities. He has worked with NGOs on development in the Arab world, and has been a consultant for the UN, UNICEF, and other international and Canadian agencies.
His more recent research has focused on Muslim and Arab minorities in Canada and in Quebec and on the process of interaction with the society, on their representation in the Media, on ethnic relations in Quebec, on racism and discrimination, and the measure of inequalities. He has also worked on the political conflicts in the Middle East and on the Arab revolts
He has been a regular commentator of local and international current affairs in the print and electronic Media. He is an active resource person in solidarity circles. He is also affiliated with the Interuniversity Consortium for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (ICAMES/CIÉAMO) and the Réseau francophone de recherche sur les opérations de paix (ROP)
As Collaborator, Rachad Antonius will provide expertise on methodological issues of the project and issues of Muslim minorities in Canada and Quebec.
